ROCKET TO RUSSIA
Limited 80 gramvinyl LP pressing. Rocket to Russia is the third studio album by the American punk rock band The Ramones, and was released on November 4, 1977, through Sire Records. It’s origins date back to the summer of 1977, when Sheena Is a Punk Rocker” was released as a single. That summer was known as the peak of the punk rock genre since many punk bands were offered recording contracts. The album’s recording began in August 1977, and the band had a considerably larger budget with Sire allowing them $25,000 and $30,000; much of this money went toward the album’s production rather than recording.
RAMONES
Limited 180 gram vinyl LP pressing. The Ramones ignited the punk-rock movement with their eponymous 1976 debut album, revitalizing rock and roll at one of it’s lowest ebbs with attitude, energy and a loud, fast new sound. By cutting music down to it’s bare essentials – four chords; a simple, catchy melody; a sped-up tempo and irresistibly inane lyrics, the Ramones blazed the trail for thousands of bands that followed, influencing everyone from The Clash and The Sex Pistols to Green Day and The Offspring. Although The Ramones never achieved mainstream financial success, they released 21 live and studio albums, had a devoted fan base and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. Other bands, such as the Stooges and the New York Dolls, came before them and set the stage and aesthetic for punk, and bands that immediately followed, such as the Sex Pistols, made the latent violence of the music more explicit, but the Ramones crystallized the musical ideals of the genre.
LEAVE HOME
Vinyl LP pressing of the second album from the punk legends. Released in January 1977, it featured a clutch of Ramones’ classics including ‘Swallow My Pride,’ ‘Pinhead,’ ‘Suzy is a Headbanger,’ ‘California Sun’ (a hit for the Rivieras in the ’60s) and of course the controversial ‘Carbona Not Glue’. Produced by Tony Bongiovi and Tommy Ramone, Leave Home also featured the engineering talents of Ed Stasium, who would go on to work with the band over numerous other releases. Songs on the album were written immediately after the band’s first album’s writing process, which demonstrated the band’s progression. The album had a higher production value than their debut Ramones and featured faster tempos.
