The eponymous debut studio album by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band was released in January 1972 to much critical acclaim. An exceptional-sounding record, it showed the band utilizing the recording studio to full advantage at the time, while marking a new phase for Manfred Mann as he assembled a band musically superior to other British hard rock and blues influenced groups of the early seventies. While still a couple years away from pop radio success, most notably their version of Blinded By The Light, the Earth Band’s debut wad a solid foundation to a career that continues to this day.
