The breadth of David Longstreth’s talents as a songwriter, arranger, bandleader and singer call to mind Prince, Joni Mitchell, and Bjork. From beginning to end, Rise Above” is a re-imagining of Black Flag’s seminal 1981 record “Damaged”.
